Five Springs Mountain Park (Wuquanshan Gongyuan)

Five Springs Mountain Park (Wuquanshan Gongyuan)

The Five Springs Mountain Park (Wuquanshan Gongyuan) is located at the foot of Gaolan Mountain in the south of Lanzhou City. As one of the most famous and historical resorts in Gansu Province, the park is reputed for its tranquil and beautiful scenery with lush forest, gurgling springs, and ancient Buddhist temples.

The park gets its name from five famous springs, namely Hui, Ganlu, Juyue, Mozi and Mengwu. It is actually centered among these five famous springs and several historical Buddhist buildings, with a history over 2000 years. These temples consist of Chongqing Temple, which can date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties and has an ancient iron bell that is three-meter tall inside, the Thousand Buddha Pavilion, as well as Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist temples. The Five Springs Mountain Park covers a total area of 267,000 square meters with a collection of ancient buildings as well as its natural sceneries. The Five Springs Mountain Park was founded in 1955. Now it has attracted both local and western travelers.

Here is a warm tip for you. Each year, on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, the Five Springs Mountain Park may hold temple fairs, flower and plant exhibitions, as well as various folk cultural activities. A colorful lantern show is also on during Spring Festival. When traveling at this time, you’d better not miss them.
