Impression Lijiang

The one-hour folk performance, Impression Lijiang, is a series of primitive musical performances demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi and Bai peoples and Mosuo minority people and is presented by more than 500 peasants of 10 ethnic groups in Lijiang. Co-directed by three renowned Chinese directors, Zhang Yimou, Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue, Impression Lijiang takes place at the foot of southwestern China's Jade Dragon Snow Mountain at 3500 meters in an outdoor theater specifically designed to showcase the mountain which is used as a breathtaking backdrop.

The performance began with more than 400 male performers wearing their traditional costumes of respective ethnic groups that line up accordingly along the mountain path and shouting to the sky “We are farmers, we are stars?” All the songs and dances that includes within the show are largely portray the daily life of local people.

With plain songs and sweat, these non-professional actors dance in nature; under advanced effect of water diversion and smoke, various elements and the nature add radiance and beauty to each other that build an amazing visual impact and give you an impression on your soul.
