Three Travelers’ Cave

Three Travelers’ Cave

Three Travelers' Cave is located on Xiling Mountain of Nanjin Pass, facing the Xialao Stream.

The name of the cave is originated from three celebrities in Tang Dynasty: Bai Juyi, Bai Xingjian and Yuan Zhen. They visited here and composed poems to remember the political occasion in 819. After 137 years, in Northern Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty, Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe, Ouyang Xiu, Lu You, Wang Shenzhen and many other celebrities traveled to the cave and also inscribed poems in the cave. There are large numbers of historic calligraphy and literary left on the cave.

As the cave is located on a cliff, a board-walk has been built for visitors. Inside the cave, three stalactites divide the cave into two parts. It is bright in the front of the cave with numerous poems and essays inscribed on the wall, and there is a hole in the back of the cave from where visitors can admire the outside landscape.
