Lingering Garden

Lingering Garden

Located at outer Changmen Gate in Suzhou, Lingering Garden is renowned as a classic Chinese garden. It is recognized with other classical Suzhou gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a total area of 23,310 square meters.

This typical Qing style garden is divided into distinctly four themed sections: the eastern part is arrayed around the cloud capped peak stone; the western part is mostly natural containing only a few pavilions, a large artificial hill and a potting garden; the northern part used to be a vegetable garden, but now the grow potted plants of which Suzhou people are quite proud; and the central part is the essence of the whole complex and the original Lingering Garden while the other three were added during the Qing Dynasty.

Like other famous gardens in Suzhou, Lingering Garden seeks to create stunning natural landscapes within the limited space. In this garden, domiciles, ancestral temples and private gardens can be found. Furthermore, buildings, trees, and flowers blend harmoniously with their surroundings. Lingering Garden is famous for the exquisite beauty of its magnificent halls, the various sizes, shapes, and colors of the buildings and is worthy to be enjoyed.
