The Mountain Resort in Chengde is an imperial summer resort of Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 5.64 million square meters, has a variety of traditional practices, and creates more than 120 groups of buildings. The palace wall surrounding the resort is undulating up to 10,000 meters. It is the largest existing imperial garden in China. The Mountain Resort can be divided into Palace area and park area. Palace area was built in the south, used to be a place for emperor exercising vigorously, living, reading and recreation.

The Mountain Resort with the natural and rustic scenery which were formed the layout that lake in the southeast, mountain in the northwest and meadow in the northeast, constituted a microcosm of the Chinese territory together. The combination of the features from the south of Yangtze River and the northern grasslands make the Mountain Resort an art model of Royal garden in China.
