Chengyang Bridge

Chengyang Bridge

Chengyang Bridge (also called Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge or Chengyang Shelter Bridge) is a unique minority architecture of Dong people. It was built in 1916.and is 64.4 meters (73.43 yards) long, 3.4 meters (3.72 yards) wide and 10.6 meters (34.78 feet) high.

Chengyang Bridge is a wood-and-stone architecture. The whole bridge is just like a golden phoenix spreading the wings before flying. It is not only full of Dong flavor in the shape, but also has superb craftsmanship in the structure. No nails or rivets were used in the building of the whole bridge. Instead, talented Dong people dove-tailed many pieces of wood. It has a complicated structure without any smallest error. Though several decades old, the bridge still remains very sturdy. At present, it is the largest wind and rain bridge in China and the beautiful and magnificent bridge demonstrates the high level of the Dong' architectural design.
